Play Capone Online
Start as a small-time bootlegger in 1920s Chicago, bribing cops and taking out rivals in this turn-based gangster sim where every shady deal could be your last. The pixelated violence and tinny jazz soundtrack somehow make the backstabbing even more satisfying.
Capone came out in 1988 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Actionware. It was a turn-based strategy game set in the Prohibition era, a time when a lot of computer games were experimenting with mixing historical settings and tactical play. You don't see many games from that period trying to simulate the gritty, back-alley politics of organized crime in quite the same way.
You control a rising gangster, starting with a single speakeasy and a handful of thugs. Your main goal is to expand your criminal empire by taking over rival territories, which involves sending your men to attack enemy holdings, bribing police to look the other way, and managing your illegal alcohol supply. The game plays out on a map of Chicago, screen by screen, with each turn representing one day of scheming and violence. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, but the constant threat of betrayal or a police raid keeps you on edge. It feels like a tense, calculated chess match where every move could either secure your dominance or get you killed.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
