Captain America: Super Soldier came out on the Nintendo DS in 2011, published by Sega. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games that tried to do something a little different on the handheld, using the hardware's capabilities for a more action-focused experience.
You control Captain America, moving through screen-by-screen environments inside a Hydra fortress. The main goal is to stop the Red Skull's plans, which involves a lot of brawling with Hydra soldiers and exploring for intel files and other collectibles. The combat relies on timing your attacks and blocks, and you can throw your shield at enemies or to hit switches from a distance. The pacing is fairly quick, with a moderate challenge that spikes during some boss fights. It feels responsive and satisfying to chain together combos and clear rooms efficiently.
