Play Cave Story Online

You wake up in a cave with no memories, grabbing a dinky little gun that grows into a beast as you uncover secrets between chatting with bunny people and dodging floating blobs. The pixel art feels like a warm hug, but don’t get too cozy—your choices actually change how things play out.

Game Overview

Oh man, Cave Story—this one's special. You start as this little amnesiac dude waking up in a cave, and before you know it, you're chatting with bunny-eared villagers and blasting weird floating jellyfish with a peashooter that somehow evolves into an absolute monster of a weapon. The pixel art has this warm, handmade feel, like someone poured their childhood daydreams straight into the game.

What gets me every time is how it balances goofy charm (one character is literally just a pile of mimiga in a cloak) with moments that hit surprisingly hard. You'll be platforming through ancient ruins one minute, then making choices that actually matter the next—I totally botched my first ending because I missed a hidden weapon upgrade. The music? Chef's kiss. That main theme still pops into my head randomly years later.

It's crazy that one guy made most of this. Feels like playing a secret SNES classic that never existed, but with way more heart than most big studio games.
