Caverns of Xaskazien came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Jeffrey Olsen. It was a time when dungeon crawlers were often unforgiving, text-heavy, and relied on the player's patience and mapping skills more than flashy graphics.
You control an adventurer delving into a vast, multi-level dungeon, fighting monsters with a sword or bow and solving environmental puzzles to progress. The game uses a first-person, screen-by-screen movement system, and you must carefully manage your inventory of keys, torches, and other items to survive. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with a high difficulty that punishes carelessness. It feels like a genuine test of your wits and endurance against a hostile, underground world.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
