Game Overview
Cliffhanger on Game Boy is basically you playing as Sylvester Stallone’s character from the movie, but pixelated and way more likely to fall off cliffs. You’re Gabe Walker, a mountain rescue guy who stumbles into a terrorist plot when answering a fake distress call. The gameplay’s your classic side-scroller—running, jumping, punching wolves (because of course there are wolves), and occasionally doing this awkward mid-air kick that never quite lands right.
The real star here is the environment trying to kill you. Snow slides off ledges at the worst moments, rocks tumble down like they’ve got a personal grudge, and those rope crossings? One mistimed jump and it’s back to the last checkpoint. It’s got that janky early Game Boy charm where everything feels slightly unfair, but in a way that makes you want to try just one more time. The movie tie-in doesn’t add much, but the snow levels do look surprisingly good for a tiny green screen.
