Cliffhanger on the Genesis is exactly what you'd expect from a movie tie-in beat'em up—Sly Stallone punching his way through snowy mountains while chasing stolen cash. The levels mix basic brawling (think Final Fight but with slightly clunkier hits) with some surprisingly fun climbing sections where you dodge falling rocks or outrun avalanches. The Sega CD version throws in actual movie clips, which is neat if you're into that early '90s FMV vibe.
It's got that classic arcade rhythm: climb a cliff, fight some goons, repeat. The moveset feels limited compared to other brawlers, and sometimes your punches just... miss for no reason? But there's something oddly satisfying about kicking henchmen off ledges while snowboarders zoom by in the background. If you grew up with the movie or just love janky licensed games, it's a weird little time capsule.
Honestly, half the fun is watching Stallone's digitized face grimace during the cutscenes.
