I picked up Club Football: The Manager Disk1 back in 1994, a time when the Amiga was still a solid choice for strategy and simulation games. It was developed and published by BOMS Computer Games Ltd., a name that might not ring many bells today, but they put out a few interesting titles. You take control of a lower-league English club, starting in the third division, and your job is to handle everything from scouting players and negotiating transfers to setting training schedules and picking match tactics. The game includes a team editor, which was a nice touch for creating custom squads or tweaking existing ones. Matches are resolved through text commentary, so you're always analyzing data and making adjustments rather than controlling players directly. It moves at a deliberate pace, demanding patience as you build your club over multiple seasons. The difficulty can be punishing if you mismanage funds or make poor signings. Playing it feels like a genuine test of your strategic planning and long-term vision for a football team.
