Game Overview

I picked up Coded Arms for the PlayStation Portable back in 2005, a Konami release that came out not long after the PSP itself. It was one of the earlier attempts at a first-person shooter on the handheld, built around a concept of a corrupted virtual reality training program. The game didn't have the big budget feel of some later titles, but it had its own rough charm and a clear focus on portable action.

You control a hacker trapped inside this unstable simulation, moving through maze-like levels room by room. Your main goal is simply to survive and find the exit in each area, all while fighting off glitched creatures and security programs. The levels are randomly generated, so no two playthroughs are exactly the same; you're always adapting to new layouts. Weapons and ammo are scarce, encouraging careful scavenging and switching between firearms on the fly. The pacing is tense, sometimes unforgiving, especially when enemies spawn behind you or in tight spaces. It feels like a tense, unpredictable run through a digital ghost town where every corner could hide a new threat or a much-needed health pack.
