Combatribes came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Technos Japan. It was one of those side-scrolling beat 'em ups that felt right at home on the system, a familiar genre during a time when local multiplayer was a big draw. You could pick it up and immediately understand the kind of chaos you were in for.
You control one of three vigilantes, each with their own slightly different moveset, and your goal is to clean up the city by fighting through waves of themed gang members. The signature mechanics include picking up enemies to use as human weapons, throwing them into crowds, and performing special moves like a spinning piledriver. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be brutal, especially when the screen fills up with enemies. It feels like a messy, satisfying brawl where you're constantly fighting to keep your footing.
