Game Overview
Combots is that weird little DOS game I keep coming back to when I want some quick, messy robot carnage. You pick a chunky pixelated mech—some are fast but fragile, others lumber around like walking tanks—and then slap together a loadout of weapons that somehow feels both ridiculous and perfectly balanced. The first time I tried the homing missiles, I thought they’d be overpowered… until I realized they take forever to actually hit anything.
The arenas are tiny and destructible, so half the fun is just blasting holes in walls to escape or corner your opponent. It’s got that classic “one more round” energy, especially when you’re down to a sliver of health and pulling off a desperate rocket jump to avoid a flamethrower to the face. Yeah, the graphics are straight out of 1993, but there’s something about the clunky charm that makes the chaos even better.
If you’ve got a soft spot for games where you can absolutely ruin your own robot by strapping too many explosives to it, this one’s a riot.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
