Play Contra - The Hard Corps (Japan) Online
Dodge a storm of bullets as four different characters—cyborg dude’s spread shot wrecks bosses—and take branching paths that actually change things. Still punishing, just slightly less than the US version.

Contra: The Hard Corps came out for the Sega Genesis in 1994, developed and published by Konami. It was part of the later wave of Genesis action games, arriving at a time when developers were pushing the hardware further with faster, more detailed visuals and more complex mechanics. This entry in the Contra series stood out for its branching paths and character selection, offering a different kind of replayability compared to earlier run and gun shooters.
You control one of four cyborg soldiers, each with a unique primary weapon and a screen clearing special attack. Your goal is to stop a rogue military cyborg and his army across five stages, with alternate routes that lead to different mid bosses and endings. The gameplay is built around fast movement, dodging dense enemy fire, and switching between your main gun and a limited use special weapon. It’s a difficult game, even with the slightly reduced challenge of the Japanese version, demanding quick reflexes and smart weapon use. Playing it feels like a constant, high stakes scramble where every dodge and shot matters.
