Game Overview
Cool Spot is one of those weirdly fun mascot platformers from the '90s where you play as the 7 Up logo—yeah, the red dot with sunglasses. It shouldn’t work, but somehow bouncing around soda bottles and straws while collecting tiny trapped Spots feels oddly satisfying.
The controls are slick for a Genesis game, with Spot clinging to ledges and doing this little mid-air hover that makes tricky jumps way less frustrating. First level’s a beach with giant sandcastles and seagulls dive-bombing you, which is way more chaotic than I expected from a soda ad. Music’s got that upbeat early ‘90s vibe too—catchy in a "this’ll be stuck in my head for days" way.
Honestly, it’s better than it has any right to be. You’ll probably grin the first time you knock out a crab by throwing a bottle cap at it.
