The AI’s not bad—sometimes it pulls off these ridiculous 24-point hands that make you groan, but other times it’ll discard into your crib like it’s actively trying to lose.
First time I played, I kept forgetting whether flushes counted in the crib (they don’t, by the way). The game doesn’t hold your hand, but there’s something satisfying about figuring out the rhythm of pegging and counting. And that tinny little victory fanfare when you win? Chef’s kiss.
Honestly, half the charm is how stubbornly simple it is. No tutorials, no flashy animations—just pure cribbage, exactly like you’d play at your grandpa’s kitchen table if your grandpa was a beige IBM clone from 1987. If you’ve got a soft spot for DOS-era games or just want to practice counting fifteens without digging out a physical deck, this one’s weirdly perfect.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
