Crime Time came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Starbyte Software. It was a typical release for its time, fitting right in with the era's top-down action games that relied on simple graphics and fast keyboard controls to create a tense atmosphere.
You control either a criminal or a police officer, each with a different goal; the crook tries to steal money bags scattered across the city while the cop works to catch them. Movement is screen by screen, and you must use buildings and obstacles for cover, especially when sirens sound or the police get close. The game moves quickly, and mistakes are punishing, forcing you to constantly recalculate your route under pressure. It feels like a frantic game of cat and mouse where every decision matters in the moment.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
