CSI: Unsolved! came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006, developed by Gameloft. It was part of that wave of licensed games trying to make use of the DS's touchscreen in a practical way, fitting right in with other puzzle and adventure titles on the system at the time.
You play as a rookie investigator, moving from scene to scene, collecting evidence by tapping objects with the stylus. The main goal is to solve cold cases by finding clues, analyzing them in the lab, and then questioning witnesses and suspects to spot contradictions in their statements. Key mechanics include dusting for fingerprints, comparing bullet casings under a microscope, and using the microphone to blow dust off surfaces. The pacing is deliberate, asking you to think through each step instead of rushing ahead. It feels like doing real, methodical police work on a small screen.
