Unsolved Crimes on the DS is one of those games that makes you feel like a real detective—if your detective work involved a lot of stylus scribbling and squinting at tiny crime scenes. You start off with a fresh case dumped on your desk, and suddenly you're flipping through evidence photos, interrogating sketchy witnesses, and piecing together timelines like some kind of caffeine-deprived investigator.
The cases actually get pretty involved—none of that "find the obvious bloodstain" stuff. You'll cross-examine alibis, match fingerprints (badly, in my case), and even reconstruct crime scenes in 3D. The writing's decent for a DS game, though some of the dialogue makes you wonder if the suspects took acting lessons from a soap opera.
It’s not perfect—the pacing drags sometimes, and good luck if you miss a clue—but when everything clicks, you get that rare "aha!" moment most detective games wish they could pull off. Just don’t expect Phoenix Wright levels of drama.
