You play as a pirate, naturally, hunting for pieces of a treasure map across a series of islands.
You control a sword-wielding pirate, moving screen by screen through levels filled with enemies, traps, and occasional platforming sections. The main goal is to find all the map pieces, which involves exploring each area thoroughly, defeating guards and rival pirates, and navigating environmental hazards. Combat relies on timing your sword swings rather than rapid button mashing; you block, attack, and gradually break through enemy defenses.
