Play Cyber Formula GPX Online
Tiny pixel cars somehow feel lightning-fast as you thread them through looping tracks, barely keeping control when you hit the nitro boost. That anime speed vibe hits hard even on a Game Boy screen.

Cyber Formula GPX came out for the Game Boy in 1994, developed by Sun L. It was part of that wave of early handheld racers where developers tried to squeeze as much speed and personality as possible out of the hardware. You could find a lot of simple top-down racers back then, but this one stood out because it was based on the Future GPX Cyber Formula anime, giving it a specific visual and mechanical identity.
You control a high-tech racing car from a top-down perspective, weaving through winding tracks against a handful of opponents. The main goal is straightforward: win races to advance through the championship. The game has a couple of signature mechanics that define the experience. You manage a limited nitro boost for bursts of speed, which is crucial for overtaking but risks losing control if used carelessly on sharp turns. The tracks are also filled with obstacles and tight corners that demand precise timing. The pacing is relentless; the cars move deceptively fast for a Game Boy title, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as you progress. It feels like a constant battle between maintaining your racing line and seizing brief opportunities to push ahead.
