Game Overview
Cyberwars is one of those MS-DOS games that just feels like it was made in a basement by someone who read too much William Gibson. You start off with a squad of hackers—each with their own weird cyber-abilities—and get thrown into this grid-based digital battlefield where every move matters. At first, it’s all neon wireframes and synth sound effects, but then you realize the AI isn’t messing around.
What I love is how it forces you to think like a hacker, not just a soldier. You’ll be rewiring enemy turrets one turn, then desperately trying to stop a rogue AI from frying your team’s neural links the next. The learning curve’s a little brutal (expect to lose your first few squads to some nasty surprise attacks), but once it clicks, the tactical depth is insane. And yeah, the graphics are blocky as hell, but that just adds to the charm—like playing a cyberpunk board game from an alternate 1993.
If you’ve got a soft spot for old-school strategy with a crunchy, glitchy aesthetic, this one’s still weirdly addictive decades later.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
