Game Overview

Dai-3-Ji Super Robot Taisen on SNES is where the series really starts flexing its muscles. You jump back into the cockpit six months after the last war, with Londo Bell scrambling to deal with DC remnants and some shady lunar colony disappearances. The story’s got that classic SRW mix of drama and giant robots—expect a lot of dramatic speeches mid-battle.

Gameplay’s still grid-based strategy with flashy attack animations, but they’ve cranked up the depth. Pilots and mechs are separate now, so you can swap Amuro between Gundams (but no, he still can’t pilot a Mazinger—franchise loyalty matters). The new counterattack strategies are a game-changer; I kept forgetting to switch from "aggressive" and ended up with half my squad in the repair bay by mission 10.

There’s a ridiculous amount of customization—upgrading mech stats, juggling terrain adaptabilities, managing limited ammo vs. energy weapons. And with 58 missions and three endings based on your choices, replayability’s through the roof. Plus, they’ve added new series like Raideen and Combattler V, so the roster’s less Gundam-heavy than before. Just don’t expect the UI to hold your hand—this is peak ’90s menu diving.

If you’re into tactical RPGs or grew up yelling "Rocket Punch!" at the TV, this one’s a time sink in the best way.
