Man, Danan - The Jungle Fighter is one of those SEGA Master System games that somehow slipped under the radar—which is a shame, because it’s a blast. You play as this jungle warrior swinging from vines, slashing through enemies with a sword, and dodging traps that come out of nowhere. The first level throws you right into it: giant snakes, tribal warriors chucking spears, and these weird floating skulls that just won’t leave you alone.
The controls take a second to get used to—Danan’s jump feels a little floaty at first—but once it clicks, you’re hopping between platforms and slicing through bad guys like it’s second nature. The bosses are ridiculous in the best way; one minute you’re fighting a screen-sized gorilla, the next you’re dodging fireballs from some shaman dude. And yeah, it’s tough, but not the kind of unfair that makes you want to chuck your controller. More like the kind where you mutter "one more try" at 2 AM.
If you dig old-school action games with a bit of jank and a lot of heart, Danan’s a trip. Just watch out for the pits—they’re everywhere.
