Game Overview

Dark Fusion is one of those Amiga shooters that sticks with you—mostly because of that wild fusion mechanic. You start as this armored space warrior blasting through waves of aliens, picking up power-ups that actually matter (not just filler loot). But here’s the twist: after clearing a zone, you get this gnarly choice—merge with the alien you just wrecked to gain their abilities, or stay human and tough it out with your default gear. Risky, but sometimes that extra firepower’s worth the gamble.

The levels split into three parts: ground combat, alien hive assaults, and then this frantic ship flight section where you’re suddenly piloting whatever monstrosity you fused into. The first time I turned into a weird hybrid spaceship after stomping through a boss fight, I just stared at the screen for a solid five seconds. It’s janky in that classic Amiga way, but man, that fusion gimmick makes it stand out from other side-scrollers.
