Download Defender Of The Crown_Disk1 ROM – Amiga Game
1986 action-strategy game for Amiga. Play as a Saxon knight conquering territories with 10 starting soldiers. Features jousting, castle raids, and political alliances against three Norman lords.
Defender of the Crown drops you right into medieval England after the king’s murder—everyone’s scrambling for power, and you’re one of four Saxon knights trying to make sense of the chaos. Robin Hood even pops in to set the scene, which is a nice touch. You start with a single castle and a handful of soldiers, and from there, it’s all about scheming, recruiting, and occasionally betraying your fellow Saxons while taking on the Normans.
What I love is how it’s not just mindless conquest—you can joust for fame (or land if you’re feeling practical), sneak into castles for loot, or even try to marry into power. The jousting’s surprisingly tense—one wrong move and you’re eating dirt while the crowd roars. And yeah, sometimes your so-called allies turn on you, so you’d better watch your back.
It’s got that classic Amiga charm—big, colorful sprites, dramatic music—but what sticks with me is how every playthrough feels different depending on which risks you take. Just don’t get too attached to your knights; those Norman lords hit hard.
