Game Overview

So Defender of the Crown drops you into this messy medieval England where the king's just been offed and everyone's scrambling for power. You pick one of four Saxon knights—I went with the red guy because, well, he looked the least likely to get stabbed in a tavern brawl. Robin Hood (yes, that Robin Hood) gives you the rundown, and suddenly you're staring at a map with one sad little castle and a handful of troops.

At first, it's all about scraping together enough soldiers to not get immediately crushed. But then things get interesting—you can joust for land (timing those lance hits is way harder than it looks), raid castles for quick cash, or even try to marry into power. The other Saxon knights? Yeah, they'll backstab you the second it's convenient. Classic medieval politics.
