Deja Vu (Sweden) on NES is one of those games that sticks with you—mostly because you spend half of it panicking. You wake up in a grimy bathroom with a gunshot wound, a corpse at your feet, and absolutely no idea who you are. Classic Tuesday.
The whole thing plays out like a fever dream of 1940s detective tropes: interrogating bartenders who know too much, digging through trash for clues, and trying not to get shot (again). The pixel art somehow makes flickering neon signs and rain-slicked alleys feel moody as hell. And yeah, you’ll probably get stuck at some point—that locked drawer won’t open itself, and the game won’t hold your hand.
If you’ve ever played Shadowgate and thought “I’d love this, but with more mobsters and amnesia,” here’s your game. The Swedish version’s just an extra bit of weird charm for collectors. Watch out for that ending, though. Nothing prepares you for it.
