DGeneration came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Incentive Software. It was a time when top-down action games were common, but this one stood out for its bleak, sci-fi setting and unforgiving approach to survival. You weren't just fighting monsters; you were trying to endure in a place that felt actively hostile.
You control a lone survivor in a ruined, underground complex, tasked with finding a way to the surface. Movement is screen by screen, and you explore dim corridors while managing scarce ammo and health. Combat is tense; you use a pistol, a shotgun, or grenades against mutants and robots, but firing carelessly can leave you defenseless. The pacing is deliberate, almost cautious, because mistakes are costly and resources don't respawn. It feels like a constant calculation of risk, where every encounter could be your last if you aren't careful.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
