Play Dig Dug - Digging Strike Online
Dig through two screens at once—pump up enemies below while dodging lava from above, then scramble to grab power-ups before bosses evolve into nightmare versions. Those boxing glove weapons hit way harder than they should.

Dig Dug: Digging Strike came out for the Nintendo DS in 2005, published by Namco. It was part of that early wave of DS games that tried to do something different with the hardware, in this case using both screens for a single playfield. It felt like a natural, if slightly odd, evolution for the series on a system full of experiments.
You control Dig Dug, tunneling through soft dirt across both screens to defeat enemies. The main goal is still to clear each stage of foes, primarily by inflating them with your pump until they pop. The big new mechanic is the ability to dig on both the top and bottom screen simultaneously, which creates a much larger, more vertical arena. You have to manage threats from above and below, often while scrambling to collect power-ups like the boxing glove weapon that lets you punch through multiple enemies at once. The pacing is frantic; it gets chaotic quickly when the screen fills up and bosses start showing up. It feels like a frantic, two-screen scramble where you're always just a few mistakes away from a game over.
