Dino City came out on the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Irem. It was one of those quirky platformers that felt right at home in an era full of experimental side-scrollers, not trying to be the next big thing but just offering something a little different.

You control a boy named Timmy, or his friend in two-player mode, trying to rescue his kidnapped parents from a villainous scientist. The main goal is to fight through levels filled with dinosaurs, some of which you can ride, like a T-Rex that lets you throw eggs as a weapon. You explore screen by screen, jumping across platforms and defeating enemies with a simple sword attack. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels chaotic and silly in the best way, like a Saturday morning cartoon you get to play.
