Donkey Kong (JU) [T-Span] is one of those NES games that feels simple at first, just a guy climbing ladders, dodging barrels, but gets brutal fast. The first level lulls you in, then suddenly you're timing jumps between fireballs and springs while the timer ticks down.

I remember getting stuck on the elevator stage for days. The rhythm of jumping between moving platforms while barrels roll down at awkward angles is weirdly satisfying once it clicks.
