Game Overview

Donkey Kong on Game Boy looks like a simple arcade port at first—same barrels, same ladders, same jump sound effects. But after those first few classic levels, it suddenly opens up into this massive platformer with nearly 100 stages. Mario’s still chasing DK, but now the ape keeps kidnapping Pauline over and over, like he’s got a real grudge.

The levels get wild—scrolling screens, weird enemies, and way more precision jumps than the arcade ever asked for. Sometimes DK shows up mid-level just to chuck barrels at you from the background. It’s way deeper than I expected from a Game Boy cart, though the controls take some getting used to (those tiny buttons…).

If you remember the arcade version, this one’s like someone took that idea and stretched it into a full adventure. Just don’t expect to beat it in one sitting.
