Play Double Dare Online
Compete in trivia and tackle wild physical challenges to dodge slime and race through messy courses in Double Dare, a chaotic 1988 MS-DOS classic.
Double Dare came out in 1988 for MS-DOS, published by GameTek. It was one of those games that tried to capture the feel of a TV show, which was a popular idea back then on home computers. You didn't need a fancy setup to play it; a simple PC and a friend were enough.
You control a contestant, moving through a series of challenges by either answering trivia questions or attempting physical stunts. The main goal is to earn enough cash to reach the final obstacle course. Key mechanics include using the keyboard to navigate messy, interactive stages and timing your movements to avoid obstacles, like dodging falling gunk or climbing slippery poles. The game moves quickly, and the difficulty comes from both the timer and the intentionally awkward controls. It feels chaotic and silly, exactly like the show, and finishing a stage without getting covered in slime is a genuine relief.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
