Game Overview
Double Hawk is one of those classic Sega Master System shooters that feels like a mix of Cabal and an 80s action movie. You play as two elite soldiers (John and Jack, because of course) sent to wipe out a terrorist syndicate—complete with jungles, beaches, and a final showdown in the mountains. The whole thing’s gloriously over-the-top.
Gameplay’s straightforward but tense: clear waves of enemies before a timer runs out, dodging bullets while mowing down soldiers, tanks, and even snorkelers (yes, really). Power-ups drop occasionally—machine guns, rapid fire, bombs—but you’ll still spend half your time frantically sidestepping explosions. The difficulty spikes hard on the later levels, especially when choppers start swarming.
It’s short—just five missions with four levels each—but the bosses are satisfyingly chaotic bullet sponges. Play it for the cheesy premise, stay for the surprisingly tight arcade action.
