Dracula: Crazy Vampire came out in 2000 for the Game Boy Color, developed by Planet Interactive. It was one of those late-era GBC releases that tried to do something a little different, a top-down action game with a cartoonish look and a playful take on the vampire mythos. The hardware was aging, but this game made decent use of the limited palette and small screen.
You control a chibi-style Dracula as he defends his castle from vampire hunters and other intruders. Your main goal is to clear each room of enemies while solving environmental puzzles, often by pushing crates to block sunlight or reach higher platforms. Combat involves shooting bats at foes or using a short-range bite attack to regain health. The game moves screen by screen, with some backtracking as you unlock new areas. It can be tricky; timing your movements to avoid sunlight beams is essential, and some puzzles require patience. Playing it feels like a mix of cautious exploration and quick, reactive combat.
