Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2 came out for the Nintendo DS in 2005, developed by Arc System Works. It was one of those early DS titles that made good use of the dual screens, especially for showing character stats and special move inputs. At the time, portable Dragon Ball games were mostly side-scrolling brawlers or RPGs, so this one stood out for its fast, aerial combat.
You control a team of DBZ characters, flying freely around the arena and trading blows with opponents. The main goal is to deplete your rival's health bar using a mix of melee combos, energy blasts, and screen-filling super attacks. Two key mechanics include switching fighters mid-battle to extend combos or avoid damage, and engaging in beam struggles where you rapidly tap buttons to overpower your opponent's attack. Matches are fast and sometimes chaotic, with destructible environments and assist characters adding to the mayhem. It feels responsive and explosive, especially when you pull off a dramatic finishing move.
