Game Overview

Dungeon Master on SNES is one of those games that feels way ahead of its time. You start by picking four adventurers—I always went with a mix of fighters and spellcasters, though good luck figuring out who's actually useful at first—and then it's straight into this massive, claustrophobic dungeon. The real-time combat keeps you on your toes since you're frantically clicking enemies while managing your party's stamina.

What really stuck with me was how your characters grow. No boring XP grinding here—if you want someone to get better with swords, they just have to swing a lot. Same with magic, which is this weird but satisfying rune-combo system. You'll find yourself scribbling symbols on paper like some kind of dungeon-obsessed wizard. And yeah, you can poke at nearly everything in the environment, which makes the whole place feel weirdly alive for a 16-bit game.

It's tough as nails, but there's something about the way it all clicks together that makes you want to push deeper anyway.
