Game Overview

Dungeon Master on the Amiga is one of those games that feels way ahead of its time. You start by picking four adventurers—warriors, wizards, or a mix—and then it’s straight into this dark, eerie dungeon where every step could mean trouble. The real-time combat keeps you on your toes—no turn-based waiting here. You click to swing your sword or cast spells, and it actually feels tense when a monster lunges at you.

What’s cool is how your characters grow. No boring XP grinding—they get better at what they actually do. Swing a sword a lot? Your fighter hits harder. Cast fire spells nonstop? Your mage becomes a walking flamethrower. And speaking of spells, you don’t just pick them from a menu. You have to figure out rune combinations, which makes magic feel mysterious and rewarding when you finally nail a new spell.

You’ll poke around, push buttons, throw switches—everything reacts like you’d expect in a real dungeon. Just watch out for pits. I lost a perfectly good rogue that way. The whole thing has this claustrophobic, immersive vibe that still holds up.
