Game Overview

Dungeon Master for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1992, developed by FTL Games and published by JVC Musical Industries. It was part of that early wave of SNES titles that tried to bring deeper, more complex computer RPGs into the living room, though it never quite reached the same audience as some of the bigger names.

You control a party of up to four adventurers, navigating maze-like dungeons one screen at a time. Your main goal is to survive the depths, gather keys and items, and defeat the dungeon's master. The game uses real-time combat, where you click on enemies to attack or cast spells by dragging runes into sequences. Exploration is methodical and often tense; you manage torches for light, solve environmental puzzles, and face monsters that can quickly overwhelm an unprepared group. It feels claustrophobic and demanding, every decision carrying weight as you push just one corridor further.
