Game Overview

Dungeon of Shalan was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, released in 1990 by an independent developer whose name has faded from common memory. It arrived during a period when dungeon crawlers were experimenting with first-person perspectives, though it lacked the polish of bigger studio releases. The game presented a stark, text-driven interface that felt both archaic and deeply immersive for its time.

You control a lone adventurer delving into a monster-infested labyrinth, armed with a sword and limited supplies. Your goal is to survive the dungeon's depths, retrieve a powerful artifact, and escape alive. Movement is screen by screen; each new room could hold treasure, a hidden trap, or a lurking enemy. Combat is turn-based and unforgiving, requiring careful management of health and stamina. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with danger waiting behind every decision. It feels like a tense, lonely struggle against the dark where every victory is earned through patience and caution.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
