Dynatech came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series from Magic Bytes. It was a space trading and economic simulation game that fit right in with the kind of deep, menu-driven experiences people expected from their PCs back then, before flashy graphics took over everything.
You control a freelance trader piloting a ship through a network of star systems, buying low and selling high to build your credits and upgrade your vessel. The main goal is to grow your trading empire from a single ship into a powerful fleet, managing resources and outmaneuvering rival corporations. Key mechanics include mining asteroids for raw materials using drones, setting up automated trade routes for your freighters, and constantly monitoring shifting market prices across different planets. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, and the learning curve is steep, with bankruptcy always a few bad deals away. It feels like conducting a slow, satisfying symphony of supply and demand from the cockpit of your ship.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
