Okay, so picture this: E.T., but instead of running from government agents or trying to phone home, he's just... gardening. In space. E.T. and the Cosmic Garden is this weirdly delightful Game Boy Color game where you help the little guy grow alien plants across different planets. At first, I thought it'd be some cutesy time-waster, but there's actually a surprising amount of strategy—figuring out which plants thrive where, solving little environmental puzzles, and unlocking new seeds as you go.

The whole thing has this cozy, low-pressure vibe—no timers, no enemies chasing you, just E.T. puttering around with his glowing finger, making space tomatoes bloom. The colors pop nicely for a GBC title, and some of the plant designs are genuinely creative (wait till you see the one that looks like a floating jellyfish). It’s definitely more Harvest Moon than Super Mario, but that’s what makes it fun. Also, yes, you can grow a plant that vaguely resembles a rotary phone. Of course you can.

If you’re into chill, slightly offbeat games with a retro feel, this one’s a hidden gem. Just don’t expect anything like the Atari disaster—this E.T. actually knows what he’s doing.
