Play E.T. and the Cosmic Garden Online
You play as E.T. sneaking past agents and planting alien seeds that grow into weird plants, solving little puzzles to rebuild your wrecked garden. The pixel art’s got that cozy GBC glow, and yeah—E.T.’s waddle-run is pure comedy.
Okay, so E.T. and the Cosmic Garden is this weirdly adorable Game Boy Color game I found buried in a retro pile. You basically play as E.T. (yes, that E.T.) trying to regrow his alien garden after some jerk agents wrecked it. The whole thing feels like a mix between a puzzle game and a tiny open world—you plant these glowing seeds that sprout into bizarre plants, solve little environmental puzzles to unlock new areas, and yeah, occasionally hide from feds in bushes like some kind of extraterrestrial raccoon.
The pixel art’s got that warm, slightly fuzzy GBC look, and the music’s all synthy and nostalgic. It’s not super hard, but there’s this one puzzle with floating platforms that took me way too long to figure out. Also, E.T. waddles when he runs, which is both hilarious and mildly frustrating when you’re trying to dodge stuff.
Honestly, it’s the kind of game you play for 10 minutes and suddenly realize an hour’s gone. If you’ve got a soft spot for forgotten retro oddities, this one’s worth dusting off.
