Remember that scene in E.T. where he’s stumbling through backyards trying to phone home? This Game Boy Color version lets you live that—minus the government agents chasing you in real life. You play as the little guy himself, wobbling around neighborhoods, grabbing phone parts, and avoiding scientists who apparently have nothing better to do than harass a lost alien.
It’s way less confusing than the Atari disaster (no buried-in-pits nonsense here), but still has that slightly janky retro feel. The colors pop nicely for a GBC game, and the puzzles are simple enough that you won’t rage-quit before the final stretch. Perfect for a quick bus ride or pretending it’s 1982 again. Just keep some candy nearby for moral support.
