ECW Hardcore Revolution came out in 2000 for the Game Boy Color, published by Acclaim Entertainment. You control one of several ECW wrestlers, moving from screen to screen in a side view arena to fight opponents using punches, kicks, and grapples. The main objective is to win matches by pinfall or submission, often while navigating environmental hazards like barbed wire ropes. Signature mechanics include performing context sensitive, exaggerated finisher moves and using foreign objects that occasionally appear near the ropes. The pacing is fast and chaotic, with matches feeling rushed and sometimes clunky due to the hardware limitations. It feels like a simplified, frantic interpretation of the ECW atmosphere.
