It’s got that Star Trek vibe but stripped down to its bare bones: no fancy cutscenes, just you, a scanner full of blips, and the creeping dread that your next move might be your last. The EGA colors somehow make it even more intense—like, yeah, everything’s cyan and magenta, but you’ll still white-knuckle the keyboard when a Romulan warbird decloaks.
Honestly, half the fun is how brutally it punishes you for rushing. Forget to scan before jumping? Enjoy drifting in space forever. But when you finally outmaneuver a pack of pirates or limp back to starbase with 2% energy left, it feels like you’ve pulled off a miracle. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
