Elevator Action EX came out for the Game Boy Color in 1999, developed by MediaKite. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, just offered a solid, portable version of a classic idea.
You control a spy who must infiltrate a multi-story building, floor by floor. Your main goal is to enter specific rooms, steal secret documents, and then escape via a waiting getaway car. The core loop involves riding elevators and escalators to navigate the building, kicking open doors to find the right rooms, and fighting off guards with your pistol. The pacing is fast; enemies pour into hallways, and you often have to shoot your way out of tight spots while managing limited ammo. It feels tense and straightforward, a game of quick entries and even quicker exits.
