Play Excelsior Phase One - Lysandia Online
You wander a pixelated world where villagers speak in riddles, scribble dungeon maps by hand, and fight in quick turn-based scraps—it’s janky, cryptic, and weirdly absorbing.

Excelsior Phase One: Lysandia came out in 1993, published by 5th Dimension as part of their MS-DOS Classic Games series. It was a time when many developers were trying their hand at top-down fantasy adventures, and this one fit right in with its chunky VGA graphics and MIDI soundtrack. You could tell it was aiming for that exploratory, puzzle-heavy feel a lot of us were into back then.
You control a lone adventurer exploring the kingdom of Lysandia, screen by screen, talking to NPCs for clues and battling monsters in simple turn-based combat. Your main goal is to gather the scattered pieces of the Triforce-like artifact to restore order, which means a lot of dungeon delving, key hunting, and careful inventory management. The pacing is slow; you have to pay close attention to dialogue and environmental details because the game offers little hand-holding. It feels like piecing together an old, slightly stubborn puzzle where every small discovery actually matters.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
