Game Overview

Extreme-G on the N64 is basically what happens when you take F-Zero, crank the speed up another notch, and throw in some wild sci-fi bikes. The first time I played, I wiped out on like three turns in a row—those tracks twist and drop so fast it’s hard to keep up. But once you get the hang of leaning into turns and timing boosts, it clicks.

The Japanese version’s got this gritty techno soundtrack that somehow makes going 500 mph feel even more intense. And yeah, the graphics were pretty slick for the time—glowing neon tunnels, icy cliffs, all that good stuff. Just don’t expect to win your first race; those AI bikes don’t mess around.

If you’re into old-school arcade racers that punish you until you git gud, this one’s a blast. Just maybe grab a controller with a tight joystick.
