Play F-1 World Grand Prix Online
Tweak your car's setup before each race, then wrestle with slidey handling as you squeeze past rivals on Monaco's hairpins—all the real '98 F1 teams and tracks packed into a tiny GBC racer.

F-1 World Grand Prix came out for the Game Boy Color in 1999, developed by Video System. It was one of the few Formula 1 games on the handheld, arriving at a time when portable racing often meant simplified graphics and mechanics. The game tried to bring a more serious motorsport feel to the small screen, complete with official teams and circuits from the 1998 season.
You control an F1 car, aiming to win races and eventually the championship. Before each event, you adjust your car's setup, tweaking elements like gear ratios and downforce to suit each track. During the race, the handling feels loose and slidey, especially on tight corners like those at Monaco, where precise control matters. You manage tire wear and fuel consumption, making strategic pit stops to stay competitive. The AI drivers provide a consistent challenge, and races demand concentration from start to finish. It feels satisfying to nail a perfect lap or execute a clean overtake after struggling with the car's slippery physics.
