Play Fable (CD) Online
You play as some poor villager fetching magic gems, but soon you're knee-deep in frozen wastes and ruins hiding a wild sci-fi twist—like Tolkien meets Star Trek. The pixel art oozes eerie '90s charm, and NPCs drop hints that actually matter later.

Fable came out in 1996 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Sir-tech Software. It's a top-down action-adventure game from that era, when pixel art and keyboard controls were the norm. You start as a simple villager sent to retrieve magical gems, but the journey quickly pulls you into stranger, darker places.
You control your character screen by screen, exploring forests, ruins, and icy wastes while fighting monsters with a sword or bow. The main goal involves gathering those gems, but along the way you uncover a story that blends fantasy with unexpected sci-fi elements. NPCs offer clues that tie into puzzles and later events, and the pacing is deliberate, with combat and exploration requiring attention. It feels like uncovering a layered, slightly offbeat world one area at a time.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
