Game Overview

Fade to Black came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, published by Electronic Arts. It was a sequel to Flashback, and one of the early attempts to bring that kind of cinematic platforming into a 3D space. The game arrived during a transitional period for PC gaming, when developers were still experimenting with how to translate familiar 2D action into polygonal environments.

You control Conrad Hart, navigating through hazardous alien landscapes and military installations. Your main goal is to survive, gather weapons, and solve environmental puzzles while evading or fighting robotic enemies. Signature mechanics include screen-by-screen exploration, using a variety of firearms, and interacting with objects to progress. The pacing is deliberate, and the fixed camera angles combined with early 3D controls contribute to a steep learning curve. Playing it feels like cautiously stepping into an unfamiliar, sometimes unforgiving world.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
